Day 2 in the books

Today we flew to Nice to begin our adventures on the French Riviera.  We spent the day exploring this beautiful coastal city.  Of course we strolled the Promenade (it's THE place to be!)  The water of the Riviera is just as picturesque as you see in travel books.  We walked through Le Cours Saleya, a central outdoor market that had everything from incredible fresh produce to fish, flowers, olive oil, herbs, scented soaps, artwork, etc.  Our 10+ miles of walking today included a climb up Castle Hill.  The view was definitely worth the climb and we burned off calories from the delicious pizza we had for lunch.  We loved Old Town with its narrow cobblestone streets as well as Massena Square, a main square in Nice bordered by palaces, palms and pines.  We took a peek inside the famous Le Negresco Hotel where the rich and famous stay while in Nice.  We even found some fun shops along Victor Hugo.  Covered lots of ground today and discovered many of the sights and sounds this city has to offer.
